Background
Roger has been flying since 1980, when he began his career as an Army Aviator. Roger started flying helicopters, or rotary wing aircraft. He soloed in the TH-55A Osage, or the Hughes 269A, which is the predecessor to the Schweizer 300C. Roger has flown the UH-1H Huey, the OH-58 Scout, or Bell Jet Ranger, and the OH-58D Kiowa Warrior in the military. Roger was selected as one of the first twelve instructor pilots for the OH-58D and is the recipient of the SE Region’s Army Aviator of the Year. Roger then developed an interest in fixed-wing aviation and started like many pilots flying a Cessna 150, 152 and 172. He progressed and flew multi-engine and jet aircraft. For fun, Roger obtained his seaplane and gyroplane ratings. Flying helicopters has given Roger the opportunity to do all kinds of missions both in the military and in the civilian aviation communities.

Experience
Over 16,500 flight hours and still logging, Roger holds an ATP. He is rated in Single and Multi-engine fixed wing, Instrument, CFI, CFII, MEI, Single and Multi-EngineSea, and Rotary Craft/Helicopter. He is type rated in Citation Jets and the BH-47. Additionally, he holds an A&P Certificate, so as an Airframe and Powerplant mechanic, he can keep ‘em flying.

Leisure
One of the FLYBOYS, of course, Roger enjoys flying for fun and traveling with his wife Pauline.
